Vinayak, his brother and his mother live in a poor house and serve their father “Sarakar” who lives in the adjacent mansion.
Because they believe that the treasure is hidden in that mansion.
They also keep Sarakar’s mother in their house and give them food every day.
They also ask about the treasure from her every day.
But Sarakar and his mother do not say anything.
After some time, Sarakar dies…Vinayak and his mother shift to another city.
Vinayak’s younger brother died in an accident after the death of Sarakar.
But after leaving Tumbbad, Vinayak’s mother asks for a promise from Vinayak that he will never go back to that village again.
Next, after 15 years we see Vinayak retracing his steps in Tumbbad.

Going to the mansion, Vinayak knows the way but it takes him many months to reach Hastar’s treasure.
He takes some gold coins from there and goes to his house.
